Product Overview
The FB-2 is a cup type pancake component set without the bottom of the cup. It offers high ratio in-line mechanical power transmissions in extremely compact configurations. Available in sizes 14 through 50 with ratios from 50 to 160.
The FB-2 is a precision component set intended for OEM integration where the surrounding housing, motor, and support structure are designed directly into the host machine.
OEM Component Integration
Harmonic Drive component sets provide the core strain wave gear elements for direct integration into OEM machine designs. The components integrate directly into the host structure, eliminating a separate gearbox housing and reducing system mass and axial length.
Wave Generator
Elliptical cam assembly — the input element that creates the strain wave motion.
Flexspline
Thin-walled flexible steel cup or hat — the output element with slightly fewer teeth.
Circular Spline
Rigid ring gear — the fixed element that establishes the gear ratio through tooth count difference.
Zero Backlash
Tooth engagement across the full mesh arc eliminates backlash inherently.
Direct Integration
Components integrate into the host structure without a separate gearbox housing.
Minimum Mass
No housing reduces system weight and shortens axial length compared to housed units.
Typical Applications
The FB-2 suits OEM robot joint designs, custom machine tool rotary axes, semiconductor equipment, and precision positioning stages where the surrounding housing, motor support, and output structure are designed directly into the host machine.

Product Attributes
Industrial Applications
These component sets are suited for OEM designs where engineers want to integrate strain-wave gearing directly into their own housings and mechanical assemblies.
Embedded OEM Designs
Used when the reducer elements are integrated directly into custom mechanical structures rather than installed as a complete housed gearbox.
Robot Joint Development
Supports custom robotic joints where engineers want direct control over packaging, bearing layout, and motor coupling strategy.
Space-Constrained Assemblies
Helps reduce mass and envelope size in systems where every millimetre matters and a full housed unit would be too large.
Machine Builder Platforms
Useful in proprietary automation modules where the gearbox architecture is part of the machine structure itself.
Custom Servo Modules
Allows integration with selected motors, bearings, and feedback devices for application-specific performance targets.
Prototype to Production
Supports development teams moving from proof-of-concept designs into repeatable production assemblies with a known reducer platform.
